Katie (Tenny) Marshall
Katie is a licensed professional counselor and is the assistant director of the Center for Character, Conscience, and Public Purpose at Penn State University. She facilitated the creation of and currently oversees Stand for State, Penn State’s bystander intervention initiative. The initiative launched in 2016 at the 23 commonwealth campuses of Penn State. The initiative addresses four topics: interrupting sexual & relationship violence, interrupting acts of bias, mental health concerns, and risky drinking/drug use. Prior to starting the initiative, Katie worked in Penn State’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) where she provided brief interventions and short-term therapy for high-risk drinking and drug use, and co-occurring mental health disorders. She is also serves as a mentor with Teach For America Graduate Fellows Program, and on the planning committee for the Racial Unity Network in State College, PA. Katie earned a dual-title master’s degree from Penn State in Counselor Education and Comparative & International Education.
